online store.





Justification of the didactic unit


Students` micro-enterprises is a project designed to encourage the pupils to work together to achieve a common goal, to develop their entrepreneurship spirit. This unit introduces a situation from daily life – buying online – recreated in the school environment as a place where team work and effort are strengthened and pupils are eager to share their products with the world. In this unit, we will work with the students on online selling concepts, so that they become familiar with the management of a store and they can apply the information in the future, when they are entrepreneurs. We are going to present a basic virtual store, in which we will work with different methods so that the students begin to understand the world of online selling.




Objectives of the unit
General objective of the didactic unit:
  • To acquire the necessary information and skills in order to operate an online store to market their products and make a profit.
Specific objectives
  • 1. To learn the basic terms and concepts related to creating an online store
  • 2. To learn how to upload products – images and description – onto the virtual store
  • 3. To establish a control of the products inventory and of the selling process.
  • 4. To increase the sense of initiative and entrepreneurship
  • 5. To encourage active participation ….., showing helpful and collaborative attitudes.
  • 6. To learn the basic vocabulary referred to online stores and online selling in both mother tongue and English.
  • 7. To use ICT in order to obtain information, create and manage a store.
 
 
Contents of the unit
 
 
  • 1. Online store – what is it good for; how to build one
  • 2. Necessary operations in the process of showcasing a product online
  • 3.Specific vocabulary associated with accounting process, creativity, communication and marketing in mother tongue and in English
  • 4.ICT – use of new information and communication technologies
 
 
 
 
Contents of transversal treatment:
 


  • ∘Education about the value of handmade products and of how to best market them
  • ∘Education about the way an online store operates
  • ∘Education about inclusion: it is fundamental that when running a micro-enterprise or an online store, the pupils are able to see and appreciate their own abilities and those of their classmates, showcasing the importance of working as a team in order to achieve a common goal.
 
 
 
 
 
Activities
 
 
 
  • 1. School micro-enterprises
    • Firstly, the pupils are presented the project, with its objectives and final goal. Then, they are presented how a small business works, starting from investing money, materials and time, until selling the goods to the public. After that, the pupils are divided in groups of three, and given a sum as the strating point of their enterprise. They are asked to choose a name for their company, to think what products they can make using the initial investment, their skills and recycled materials. They are presented the accountancy sheet, to make their process easier.
  • 2. Local fair
    • The pupils proudly present their end products at a school fair, showcasing their company logo, marketing as best they can their products and keeping notes about the sales in their accountancy sheets.
  • 3. Presentation of an online store
    • The pupils are presented with a solution on selling their products to a wider market through an online store, how to successfully present a produce and how to upload it on the i-shop.
 
 
 
 
Scheduling and sessions
 
 
  • 1st session – Pupils are presented the project, and are informed about the objectives and the desired results
  • 2nd session - Workshop about how to create a school micro-enterprise, and how an accounting sheet works
  • 3rd session - Craft workshop: the newly formed enterprise make their products, using different crafts
  • 4th session – local fair, for the enterprises to showcase their logos and their products
  • 5th session – workshop on how to present a product on an online store
  • 6th session – workshop on teaching others crafts
  • 7th session – workshop on follow-up accounting sheet about profit and reinvestment
  • 8th session – workshop on how to promote products of the micro-enterprises on foreign markets ( Cyprus fair)
  • 9th session – workshop with other local schools on how to manage a micro-enterprise and an online sto
 
 
 
Methodology
  
  • This Erasmus+ project “United Enterprises: Mission Inclusion” refers foremost on how to build an working environment that is comfortable and inviting to all participants, so we will focus our attention on strengthening creativity, assertiveness and team spirit.
  • We will encourage active-participative methods that favors and builds critical thinking, individual learning but also peer-learning, methods that draw on positive daily life instance as starting points or role-models. Our aim is to instill in pupils the desire to experiment, to create, to learn-by-doing or by helping others do things, thus building or developing competencies (such as leadership, motivation, autonomous thinking) and skills (such as foreign languages, art and craft, IT)
 
 
 
 
Evaluation
 
  • The process of evaluation will be a continuous one, since the micro-enterprises need a constant management, and also in order to detect difficulties on time so to adopt the necessary changes and to assure that pupils` process of learning is a successful one.
  • The central focus of evaluation will be the pupils themselves, the level of their assimilation of the information provided and their manner of putting the acquired knowledge into practice.
  • The evaluation will be carried out through direct and systematic observation of the activities that are done, as well as analyzing the quality of the work and the end results.
